MY GRANDFATHER’S STORY
By Vickie Smith

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I received the article for this month via bulk email.  This story had such a positively profound meaning for me that I had to trace down  the author, and ask permission to print it. I would also like to share the Author’s  response: “Yes, if you wish to put it in your newsletter I would be honored. I am American Indian and my people have always taught and learned with stories. Stories are meant to be told. They are no good locked away in your heart, they must be shared. I am pleased that you like my story. --Vickie Smith
There was Grandfather, his little grandson often came in the evenings to sit at his knee and ask the many questions that children ask. One day the grandson came to his Grandfather with a look of anger on his face.
Grandfather said, “ Come, sit, tell me what has happened today.”
The child sat and leaned his chin on his Grandfather’s knee.  Looking up into the wrinkled, nut brown face and the kind dark eyes; the child’s anger turned to tears.
The boy said, “I went to the town today with my father, to trade the furs he has collected over the past several months. I was happy to go, because father said that since I had helped him with the trapping, I could get something for me.  Something that I wanted.
I was so excited to be in the trading post, I have not been there before.  I looked at many things and finally found a metal knife! It was small, but a good size for me. So father got it for me.”
Here the boy laid his head against his Grandfather’s knee and became silent. The Grandfather, softly placed his hand on the boys raven hair and said, “and then what happened?”.  Without lifting his head, the boy said, “I went outside to wait for father, and to admire my new knife in the sunlight. Some town boys came by and saw me, they got all around me and started saying bad things.
They call me dirty and stupid and said that I should not have such a fine knife.  The largest of these boys, pushed me back and I fell over one of the other boys. I dropped my knife and one of them snatched it up and they all ran away laughing."
Here the boy’s anger returned, “I hate them, I hate them all !!!”
The Grandfather, with eyes that have seen too much, lifted his grandson’s face so his eyes looked into the boys. Grandfather said, “Let me tell you a story. I too, at times have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy.  It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times. It is as if there are two wolves inside me, one is white and one is black. The white wolf is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and does not take offense when no offense was intended. But will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way.
But, the black wolf is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him off into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing. Sometimes it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit.”
The boy looked into his Grandfather’s eyes, and asked, “Which one wins Grandfather?”
The Grandfather, smiled and said, “The one I feed.”
We wish to express our gratitude to Vickie Smith for so generously sharing this story with us.  Our  Personal Success Enhancement program deals  with that which we put our attention on, how to generate the right emotional energy  which changes negative  values into positive tools essential for happy day by day living.
PERSONAL SUCCESS ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I’ll start things off by sharing  a situation which happened to me a few months ago. A friend and I after having successfully followed a very strict weight loss program for about sixteen weeks, decided to reward ourselves with an ice cream sundae. At a time like this nothing is more annoying than to have some gal who looks like Olive Oil with breast implants verbalize   that smug, worn out cliche,  “you are what you eat”.

I was so embarrassed that I only ordered coffee.  In fact, I was so busy feeding my fear and anger that I missed out on a well earned ice cream sundae. But,  I learned a super lesson by the reply from my dear friend and mentor. She simply answered, “Yes, we are what we eat. This celebration food is wonderful and so am I.” This positive affirmation went into the universe and returned as an even more powerful thought form. If I remember correctly, she lost over a full pound that day.

I’m ashamed to admit that I fed a negative affirmation which came back to me as a very damaging  thought form And, even though I only had coffee, my body had no choice but  to regain at least two pounds.  If my dear friend hadn’t used my own work as a suppository, reminding  me about  negative affirmations; the universe would have relocated all of the extra pounds I had lost right back into my body.

Our Personal Success Enhancement Program isn’t about weight control.  It’s about how we often miss out on more than an occasional ice cream sundae just by giving  our attention to another’s  negative reality.  It’s also about how we can change this negative  energy that was working against us, into an asset working for us.

Let’s think about the way we make excuses for ourselves when we’re around people exuding  a positive inner glow with of  success, health, and happiness.  Once we realize this glowing and loving confidence wasn’t granted to a select few by some reclusive Howard Hughes type God.  But, from learning to use the positive life force within each of us, all too often obscured by fear and self doubt. By now we realize that these energies just don’t work. They only manifest as more jealously and resentment in each and every area of our lives.  We’ll cease feeding  these negative energies the minute we stop justifying and defending them with “yes but,” “if only,” “what if",“I HOPE SO!”, or “That Howard Hughes type God loves them and hates me.”  It’s important to  fully understand that these defense mechanisms can’t do anything  except  mess up our lives. So, how do we  we just let them go? How do we  tap into our own innate  success power?

As always we start by becoming still and bringing in the light of a thousand suns. We  allow it to permeate our entire mind and body.  When we feel centered and grounded,  we open with our meditation portal:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TO WONDER AT NOTHING WHEN IT HAPPENS;
TO BELIEVE NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE BEFORE
IT HAS COME TO PASS.__CICERO
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It’s just time for us to understand that our negative past, and this includes five minutes ago,  didn’t happen because some reclusive deity  caused us to feel as if our feet were planted in a block of negative cement. These negative things happened because we fed negativity into our energies. Which, in turn, connected with like minded people, returning to us as an even stronger negative force.

Good news! There’s a very simple and easy way for each of us to activate our innate success power. The only thing we need to learn is to feed and care for  the most powerful healing tool in the universe. SELF LOVE!!  It’s important that we release an affirmation of self love several times a day into the universe.  Before we know it, we’re surrounded by supportive people and opportunities. Why? Because  every thought we think connects  with like minded people before it comes back to us.

Sounds Great! So lets get into the how to.  we’re already within the light of a thousand suns. Now, lets ask that this light be changed to a soft, yet brilliant pink. This is the color of divine love. Now, it’s time to gaze into a morrow and say “I love you! I’m going to make life happy for you in each and every way!” Don’t worry if at this point a few tears are shed. These are tears of joy over being reunited with the power of your own loving being. I’s also a good idea to keep a pad and pen handy. Each time we’re aware of a negative affirmation whether it’s about love, finance, final exams or whatever, we write it down. Then we rewrite it into a positive affirmation.

I set mine to music. For a while, my only worry was financial because through a bit of nefarious and covert activity, I had no way of contacting my former clients. These were people who wanted and needed my help. But, had been told  that I would never again be available for them. When I realized I was only feeding and exacerbating this negativity by focusing  on someone who had sabotaged livelihood,  I began to sing ZIP-A-DE-DO-DA, ZIP-A-DE ANYONE WHO NEEDS MY HELP WILL  FIND ME TODAY. This affirmation had no choice but to connect with like minded people .  Before I could blink, many of my old students began to find me.  So, try to use this as a guideline for turning  negative affirmations  into a positive ones. I like using music because it goes through my head like a broken record all day.  Also, stop worrying is your work isn’t perfect. Just work toward progress. Use the loving pink light and possibly the mantra “I CAN, I WILL, MY DESIRES FULFILL.   This just can’t happen to nicer people.

In t he light of a thousand suns,

Rachel
